Dr. Khagendra is a Researcher at the Water Resource Research Institute, Disaster Prevention Research Institute (DPRI), Kyoto University. He worked as a Research Associate at Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), and an Agro-Climate and GIS Specialist at Regional Integrated Multi-Hazards Early Warning Systems for Africa and Asia (RIMES) in Thailand. He received his Master’s and Doctorate degrees in Agricultural Engineering and Environmental Engineering from Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) in Thailand and the Kyoto University in Japan, respectively. His research interest focused on mitigating the effects of increased future climate variability and the frequency of extreme climate events and on adaptation strategies for integrated river basin management under the worst-case scenarios of water related hazards focusing mainly on flood and drought. His specialties involved comprehensive analysis of extreme climate indices using historical and future climate data, and analyze the associated socio-economic impact on major allied sectors in an Asian river basin.
